Project Manager

Project Manager

TechWorks Marine, a leader in the provision of Robust, Reliable and Secure Marine Data products and services. We provide Metocean data to a broad range of clients, throughout the life cycle of their projects.  We have an immediate opening for a Project Manager to manage delivery of our marine projects both in Ireland and Internationally. 

 

Qualifications, Experience and skillset required

Applications are invited for a Project Manager with minimum 5 years relevant experience. Applicants should have proven experience in managing projects to clearly defined deadlines in the engineering or scientific domains.

Duties include:

  • Being main point of contact for the client through the full project.
  • Responsible for planning and timely execution of projects.
  • Managing project timelines and deliveries to clients, from project kick-off meeting to the project close-out.
  • Manage sub-contractors and internal technical teams to ensure smooth project delivery.
  • Respect external and internal project deadlines.
  • Dealing with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of equipment.
  • Assisting in organising the delivery of Metocean Surveys to specification and time schedules.

The successful candidate should meet the following criteria:

  • Project Management qualification (e.g. PMP/Prince2)
  • 5 years’ relevant experience
  • Proven hands on track record at delivering similar projects in Metocean surveys.
  • Demonstrable project management experience, managing both internal and external teams.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Science or Engineering is an advantage but not mandatory.
  • Strong communications and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent leadership and experience at managing teams.
  • Effective team player;
  • An ability to meet deadline and project milestones.

The position is based out of our offices in Dun Laoghaire, and will involve travel primarily in Ireland and Europe.  We offer:

Metocean Technician

Metocean Technician

TechWorks Marine is a Marine Data company.  We have been providing Metocean Data to a broad range of clients, throughout the life cycle of their projects for the last 20 years.  This data is collected using our data buoy platforms.  TechWorks Marine has an immediate opening for a Marine Technician to join our Metocean team, due to expansion.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and dynamic person who will have:

  • A background in electrical/electronic/marine engineering or similar
  • 3 years’ experience in the marine sector/engineering and/or a demonstrable interest in working on water
  • Professionalism, excellent communications, and organisational skills

You main duties will be:

  • Working within our metocean field team to ensure the safe and successful delivery of our marine survey contracts.
  • Managing the ongoing maintenance, servicing and calibration of our oceanographic instrumentation pool, alongside data buoy platforms and seabed frames.
  • Assisting with the managing and delivery of marine surveys, including mobilisation, deployment, ongoing maintenance and recovery of metocean equipment.
  • Conducting scheduled and preventative maintenance to all our oceanographic equipment deployed at sea.
  • Developing and implementing and updating any standard operating procedures for the use of the equipment pool.
  • Ensuring survey activities adhere to the latest EU and industry standards.

Essential skills/experience will include:

  • Technical knowledge of operating, troubleshooting and servicing oceanographic and marine survey equipment
  • Experience with delivery of marine projects
  • Evidence of self-motivation with excellent organisational skills
  • Successful delivery of projects to strict deadlines whilst being flexible to schedule changes
  • Fluent English (reading, written and spoken)
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Full clean driver license

Desirable skills/experience will include

  • 3-5 years’ experience in the marine survey sector in Europe, including service and maintenance of marine systems
  • Appropriate HSQE certificates for working on water (STCW)
  • Marine Experience
  • Proven experience of delivery of projects to strict timescales

Office Manager/Book-keeper

TechWorks Marine is a Marine Data company. We have been providing Metocean Data to a broad range of clients, throughout the life cycle of their projects for the last 20+ years. This data is collected using our data buoy platforms. TechWorks Marine has an immediate opening for an Office Manager/ Bookkeeper

We are looking for an enthusiastic and dynamic person who will have:

· Excellent communications and organisational skills.

· 3 years’ experience in Accountancy or Office Manager roles.

Your main duties will be:

· Providing financial advice to the management team and CEO on all financial matter and taking responsibility of this. Explaining the company in numbers.

· The development of annual budgets by department, and then tracking expenditure on an ongoing basis.

· Financial input into tenders and quotes.

· Working on the sales forecast with the MD/Sales team.

· Adding value to the business, through good financial control, implementing cost cutting processes.

· Providing financial insight into the company’s decision-making process, ensuring full compliance whilst being as efficient as possible.

· Managing financial risk for the company and planning adequately for it in advance.

· Using the internal ERP system to track staff costs and other project costs to identify growth or loss areas and make recommendations accordingly.

· Monthly Management accounts, tracking of bank accounts.

· Managing Payments in and out, making priorities, chasing invoices, developing good suppliers’ relationships.

· Preparation annual accounts for auditor.

· Filing with the Revenue commissioners, managing this relationship.

· Preparation of the payroll.

· Records maintenance (staff, holidays, contracts, suppliers).

Essential skills/experience will ideally include:

· Experience with QuickBooks.

· Familiarity with payroll software.

· Evidence of self-motivation with excellent organisational skills.

· Fluent English (reading, written and spoken)

· Ability to communicate effectively.

· Full clean driver license.

The position is based out of our offices in Dun Laoghaire, we are looking for a part time person. Working 5 mornings or 3 full days. We offer a competitive salary and benefits include:

Full Stack Web Developer

TechWorks Marine is a provider of oceanographic equipment and services in the private and public sectors
internationally. Founded in 2002, we specialise in the integration of real-time marine monitoring equipment
and sales/rental of a wide range of metocean (meteorological and oceanographic) sensors. Our integrated
products are based around the TechWorks Marine Black Box (TMBB) data acquisition and transmission
systems. We also offer full integration, installation, survey, technical support and data management services
to our clients to support them through the life-cycle of their project. Client sectors include Coastal
Engineering, Marine Renewables and Research.

Qualifications, Experience and skillset required

Applications are invited for a Full Stack Web Developer with 3-5 years commercial sector experience.
As a valuable member of a small team you will be principally involved in development and maintenance of
our web based decision support system CoastEye.

You will also work closely with our embedded development teams.

You must be a team worker, possess good communication skills and be able to work to deadlines. The positalso involves a degree of flexibility.

Duties will include:

• Design, development and maintenance of CoastEye Web Application.
• Management of big datasets, researching and utilizing modern technologies, that solve problems
related to environmental big data processing and storage.
• Collaborating with embedded development team on design and development of real time data
acquisition component of CoastEye system.
• Database management (MySQL, PostgreSQL and PostGIS).
• Cross-platform mobile application development (Expo, react-native).

Essential skills and technologies:

• Bachelor degree or higher in Computing or similar field.
• At least 3-5 years of experience in object-oriented development experience
• Good communicator, with an ability to communicate successfully to a variety of audiences
including technical documentation
• Effective team player
• An ability to meet project milestones.
• MQTT Publishing/Subscribing and brokers on AWS
• Knowledge of PHP and its Frameworks
• Solid understanding of HTTP (request methods, headers, cookies, error codes, redirects and
forwards etc.)
• Solid Front-end development knowledge including JS, React, Vues
• Solid Back-end development with Node.js/Python, Docker and Orchestration
• RESTful API/web-services
• Strong OOP and design patterns knowledge
• Solid experience with MySQL/Postgresql/NoSQL and Database Design
• Experience with Git and GitFlow
• Knowledge of AWS, DevOps
• Agile/Scrum project methodology

It would be an advantage to have:

• Front-end map libraries (mapbox, leaflet)
• Geospatial tools and libraries: gdal, ogr, mapserver
• Redis
